The ISS demo · captured July 2026

The TurboTwin web app on public NASA data.

Our demo project is built on the International Space Station's public telemetry. Each solar-array power unit is a twin with its own voltage, gimbal angle and status readings, and the 3D viewer shows the station's position. On your site, the station becomes a conveyor line or a pump station. Screenshot from July 2026.

How TurboTwin works.

Connect live data and 3D files. TurboTwin keeps the state and its history, and sends each change to the screens and apps that show it.

01 CONNECT

Live data

  • Modbus TCP
  • MQTT
  • OPC UA
  • Lightstreamer
  • REST / HTTP
  • Simulators

Sensors, PLCs, MQTT brokers and your own APIs (REST from an OpenAPI spec). Modbus TCP, MQTT and OPC UA have not yet run against field devices; we validate them against yours in a pilot.

Files & models

  • glTF / GLB
  • USD
  • LAS / LAZ
  • Gaussian splats
  • DTDL v2/v3/v4
  • Azure Digital Twins export

3D conversion and tiling are in beta.

02 PROCESS

Rules and calculated values

Alert rules and calculated values run on the server as data arrives. Every change lands in history.

3D pipeline

  • Meshes
  • Point clouds
  • Gaussian splats
  • → 3D Tiles 1.1
  • Unreal editor → .pak

The browser gets 3D Tiles made from your uploads, and Unreal apps get paks cooked in the Unreal editor. We do the conversion ourselves, so you need no separate tiling service.

What every project gets.

The same foundation sits under the web app, your own apps and your own product.

  1. 1 Everyone sees the same live state

Operators, dashboards, the 3D viewer and your own apps work from the same state. Each change shows up on every open screen as it is saved, with no extra servers for you to run.

  2. 2 Look back at any moment since you started

History is always on from the moment a project is created, with nothing to enable. Open any twin or reading as it was at a past moment, replay readings on a chart and twin positions in 3D, and see who changed which twin, with undo for common edits. Who sees history follows the roles you assign.

    AS OF −9 h 15 min
Example data over the last 24 hours. Drag the handle, or use the arrow keys, to look back. Conveyor throughput, t/h; Stockpile level, %; Tank pH
  3. 3 3D in the browser, nothing to install

The 3D viewer renders standard 3D Tiles (meshes and point clouds from photogrammetry, lidar and CAD) in the user's own browser, on WebGPU, so there are no GPU servers to pay for. The 3D Tiles and point-cloud libraries behind the viewer (bevy_3d_tiles, bevy_pointcloud_x) are open source.

  4. 4 Open models, easy exit

Twins are described in DTDL, the open modelling language behind Azure Digital Twins. Bring DTDL v2, v3 or v4 models, including an Azure Digital Twins export, and export models and twins as DTDL JSON whenever you like. If you leave, they go with you.

Designed to be built with AI

  • Our MCP server lets AI tools read, query history and update your twins, and move the 3D view. Early access
  • Every change is a typed, discoverable operation, so AI tools can find and call it, and ask history in SQL.
  • Build twins and apps with Claude Code, using the TurboTwin MCP server and Claude Code plugin. We set it up with you in the pilot. Early access
  • Build your own AI agents on the same live twins. They can ask what the twin looked like at any moment since you started. Early access

Build your twin app in Unreal. Ship it with TurboTwin.

When you want a high-fidelity Windows desktop app, add our plugin to your own Unreal Engine 5.8 project, publish your 3D content as paks, and ship the app through the TurboTwin launcher: one platform from your project to your users' desktops.

  1. Add the plugin to your project

    Early access

A C++ plugin for Unreal Engine 5.8 on Windows, with the SpacetimeDB Unreal SDK plugin alongside it. Add both as a git submodule or into your Plugins folder; your engine version must match the plugin's.

  2. Twins become Actors

    Early access

Each twin spawns as a Twin Actor that follows its live state; map a DTDL model or one twin to your own Twin Actor subclass in C++ or Blueprint. Changes arrive as Blueprint events, and Blueprint nodes return sampled telemetry and location history, looking back as many minutes as you choose.

  3. Publish your content as paks

    Early access

Cook models in the Unreal editor and publish them as per-asset .pak files. The app downloads each pak on a short-lived signed link when a twin needs it, checks its hash, then caches and mounts it.

  4. Ship through the launcher

    Available

A private, Steam-style Windows launcher: your users install, launch, update and verify your app, and each organisation's apps are visible only to its own users. Release on Dev, Testing and Stable channels, pin a validated version, and roll back by unpublishing.

Delta updates over a CDN Available

Uploads send only the parts of a build that changed, updates download only those parts, and interrupted downloads resume. Builds and 3D assets come through Azure Front Door on short-lived signed links; CI can upload with an upload-only token.

Signed builds Available

The launcher is code-signed and applies its own updates only when we signed them. Uploads from the web app refuse unsigned executables in your build unless you choose to proceed, and if Smart App Control blocks your app, the launcher says why.

Crash reports Beta

When your app crashes, the launcher offers to send the crash summary, minidump and log to our support team, with sign-in tokens masked, so we can help you fix it.

Replay with play, pause and seek is in the web app; Unreal apps get sampled recent history instead. Coming next: level paks, so one base app can serve several sites. Our own Unreal demo app is being rebuilt for the current platform release.

Built on SpacetimeDB, extended with history you can query and replay.

Under the hood, TurboTwin runs on SpacetimeDB, a database that is also the application server: the platform's logic runs inside it, and apps receive each change they subscribe to as it commits. For you, that means changes reach every screen without a separate messaging layer. Our fork turns its commit log into history you can query and play back, with no second database.

What SpacetimeDB provides

  • State in memory, with each commit written to a log on disk.
  • Server logic runs inside the database as modules. TurboTwin's are written in Rust and compiled to WebAssembly.
  • Clients subscribe with SQL and receive each change as it commits.
  • Typed client bindings, OpenID Connect sign-in, and tables that are private by default.

What our fork adds

  • Temporal SQL Available

Ask for any past state of a twin or reading, or a sampled window: AS OF, BETWEEN … SAMPLE, EVERY and FOR event_time. Apps read history through the SDKs, and project members can query it in SQL with a short-lived read token from the SDKs (early access).

  • History is always on Available

It lives in the commit log itself, from the moment a project is created. There is nothing to enable.

  • Real-time replay Available

Stream history to an app from any point, at real time or faster. Pause, seek and change speed; when it catches up with now, it carries on live. Apps on the TypeScript SDK (early access) can also play backwards.

SpacetimeDB is developed by Clockwork Labs. Arvikasoft helped build the Unreal Engine SDK and the C++ module bindings for SpacetimeDB.
